MALICA promotes Vietnamese agriculture specialties
MALICA and its partners promote local specialty products and raise public awareness about geographical indication (GI) at a safe farm produce fair in Hanoi.
A wide range of local agricultural products across Vietnam, including popular GI products, were showcased at the safe farm produce fair organized by the Trade Promotion Centre for Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Hanoi from 22nd to 28th August 2018. The fair offered a good opportunity for local producers and traders to promote their products, share their know-how and expand their business.
During the six-day event, there was a conference aimed at raising awareness and recognition of Vietnamese GI products. The conference welcomed representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and National Office of Intellectual Property (NOIP). It also attracted attention of guests from agri-food industry and reporters.
At the conference, participants were shown different communication materials for GIs in Vietnam, including a book describing Vietnamese GIs, a brochure and a Facebook page. They are all outcomes of the project “Support Development of Geographical Indications in Vietnam”, funded by AFD.
