Seminar on Modernization and digitalization of food value chains in South East Asia | Hanoi | 24 May 2019

May 24th 2019, Malica is organizing a scientific seminar in Hanoi, on the topic of Modernization and digitalization of food value chains in South East Asia, featuring John Keogh as keynote speaker.

At the seminar, John Keogh shared his knowledge of blockchain, how it could be applied into food chains, listed the key challenges and suggested solutions to Vietnamese companies to improve transparency and trust. According to John Keogh, trust is the most important contribution of block chain. He listed 2 different types of trust, competency based trust and integrity based trust, and pointed out that the motivation and integrity of Vietnamese companies are very strong. And he believes that Vietnam is perfectly positioned for growth, by continuing building the integrity based trust and starting to build the competency based trust.

Followed by keynote presentation of John Keogh, there are 2 short presentations by Malica colleagues. Dang Duc Chien from RUDEC introduced about a traceability project, with the case of dragon fruit supply chain while Isabelle Vagneron from CIRAD talked about wholesale market in Yangon, developing safe vegetable products.

     

In between presentations, there were informative Q&A session between participants and speakers.
